With colder temperatures fast-approaching, Global Partners has once again donated 1,500 gallons of home heating oil to the Cornell Cooperative Extension (Albany County) to assist local residents in need. Global has donated home heating oil to the Albany area every year since 2009.

Part of the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s mission is putting knowledge to work in pursuit of social well-being for New York State families and communities.

Helping local area residents keep warm in the winter months is a cause of great importance to Global. For the upcoming winter season, Global has pledged an overall total of more than 20,000 gallons of home heating oil to the various communities it serves.

Global Partners and Employees Come Together to Support Harvey Victims

Global Partners has a long history of supporting local communities, and this time employees are helping, too.

“Global has a long and rich history based around family,” said Global Partners President and CEO Eric Slifka. “While we have grown and evolved tremendously, I believe that our roots have remained central to our culture. Seeing families all over southeast Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey without a place to stay, food to eat, or clothes on their back hits close to home.”

To contribute the relief efforts for Harvey victims, Global is holding a fundraising campaign with proceeds that will directly benefit the Houston Food Bank. Global will also match all employee contributions up to $15,000.

The Houston Food Bank is an organization that provides ongoing support to the southeast Texas community by providing food to those who need it.

“With the recent devastation brought on by Hurricane Harvey, more people than ever will need help feeding their families while struggling over the next several months to rebuild their lives,” said Slifka.

Global Partners Permitting Update

Global Partners is committed to working with the community and regulators to continue to meet all environmental standards at our Albany terminal. In 2013, we filed a request to modify that facility’s air permit.

We are withdrawing that request and plan to resubmit a renewal application with modifications later this year. The changes to the permit will include a reduction in the amount of crude oil handled through the terminal and will not include a system for the heating of crude oil. We look forward to working collaboratively with the community and the DEC as the process moves forward.

At Global Partners, our mission is to provide the energy that people rely on to heat homes and drive vehicles, and to operate our facilities in a safe and environmentally sound manner. We welcome input that will help achieve these goals.
