At our company, and at our Albany Terminal, community is the heart of all we do. In ordinary – and extraordinary – times, this approach grounds us. As our community reacts to COVID-19, we wanted to share some of the ways we are responding locally.
Our Albany terminal continues to operate, but with enhanced social distancing and sanitization to keep our employees, customers and partners safe. We are staying in close coordination with local and state officials so that we ensure we can get critical backup fuel to hospitals, first responders, and other emergency personnel.
We also want to do our part to help the South End community in this time. Every week we are coordinating with the Albany Housing Authority, United Way and many other local organizations on how we can help.
We’ve also donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Albany to help support their relief and response efforts.
We are also pitching in to volunteer where we can, helping families and students get through this challenging time. We heard that Ezra Prentice families needed dinner. Last weekend we worked with local restaurants in Albany and purchased meals for about 60 families at Ezra Prentice.
Our local elementary school Giffen Elementary has started a meal delivery program, bringing breakfast and lunch to Giffen families. Our employees are volunteering to deliver meals to these families.
We know these are small steps, but we are committed to continuing this work and getting through this as a community.

Global submitted its permit renewal modification application in mid-March. The documents are online and available for download and review.
The documents will also be available at the Albany Public Library, Albany Housing Authority and Global Partners Community Outreach Office, however, due to the current shelter-in-place order, those organizations have temporarily closed their offices. We will distribute the documents as soon as we are able.
Our Public Meeting on the permit, scheduled for April 9 has been postponed due to COVID-19. We will follow up and send an update when it’s been rescheduled. Our priority is the health and safety of our employees, customers and communities. We hope everyone in New York remains safe and healthy.

Global Partners is moving ahead with the process of renewing our air permit for our Albany Terminal. As part of the permit renewal modification, we are proposing some changes in the way the terminal is operated.
These changes have been influenced by what we have heard from the community previously. They include a proposed decrease of more than 75% in the amount of crude oil allowed to be shipped through the terminal. Learn more about the permit renewal modification here.
A permit renewal modification will be submitted to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) in March 2020. However, the public process with opportunities for further input begins now.
We are hosting an Open House on February 25, 2020 so you can learn more, ask questions, and share your views. We hope to see you there.
